First Time Here [Oct. 14th, 2007|10:39 pm]
We Love Crochet

Hello all!

I've been crocheting for about four years now and have won ribbons for my work at the county fair here for the past three years (two 1st place, five 2nd place, and four 3rd place). I've also made numerous baby blankets, hats, scarves, and even cell phone covers for myself and my mom.

I would love to crochet some clothes for myself, but I'm a plus-size girl (between sizes 28 and 32) with, let's say, an ample bust; it's really hard to find good patterns. Would anyone know where I can find some?

soliciting advice... [Jul. 10th, 2007|01:57 pm]

greetings fellow stitchers :)....

i've decided to try and take the advice of some of you, and attempt to write my own pattern... its nothing special but... just something i am trying to custom do for a friend of the family....

anyway, this is more of a general question, to be honest.....

i have a blanket im trying to work, to use two different colors... theres the main color (which is more like a background) and then the other color (for lettering and such)... and i was wondering what is the best/easiest/most logical way to do it with the change colors...

do you stop and start a new color everytime you come to the new color in the middle of a row? do you just switch colors mid row and go back to the other while crocheting over the "tail" ends.... do you ??? how do you do that???

i hope this is a clear enough question... but if clarification might help, please let me know...

thanks in advance for all your help...

I know that this community is closed, but I was considering using it for my personal crocheting community..just like my other book community: bookness.

My most recent project:

This is for my class (Junior Class) to raffle off with some hot chocolate, nugs, and pillows. We hope to earn a lot of money with this. But we can only hope. This was taken before I finished, but since I packaged it in plastic so it wouldn't get dirty...I can't take any pictures. :(

I haven't welcomed anyone new yet, because my computer has been fried, but now I'm back!

As you all know we have a breast cancer ribbon as a userpic. I haven't found a decent 'yarn' or 'crocheting' userpic yet, but I thought that since we were a female based community, that the ribbon pic would be an okay choice until another is discovered.

I would even like us to start a little something to deal with raising money for the American Cancer Society. I just recently did their Relay for Life, and it has got me thinking that next year I want to do something myself...as in have my own team. I had a really cool idea though....

I thought that maybe I could have someone there at the Relay with me and that person and I could stitch and walk in turns. Then I thought that the only other person that I know that would do this with me is my mother, and she (I know) has already devoted her time to another team. Then I had this idea:

I could have people and members of LiveJournal to crochet for an hour right after one another instead of walking for the Relay, and take pledges for the people who are participating! And not just crocheting either...they could quilt, knit, embroider, and crochet!!! Then we could raffle off the finished projects at a later time and still raise money... not just in the U.S., but in every other country as well, and not to the American Cancer Society, but to any other charity of your choice. I don't know, but I thought that it would be a neat idea to have an annual 'Stitch-a-thon' here in my hometown!!! Maybe I should get started!

Oh yeah and if anyone would like this icon, it was made by eyesthatslay!!!

I am working on currently making mittens and scarves for my friends for Christmas! I am so glad that I thought of something that I can make for them, because they're special to me, and I know that they like my work. They already know what they're getting, because I asked them if they'd wear the mittens...and guess what!? They would! lol! I've got a lot of cute yarn for them to wear!

Thanks for all of the help you all have given me trying to figure this stuff out!

I have decided that I am going to make matching scarves and mittens for the "holidays" this Christmas! (Some for myself of course!) I have muli-colored yarns and regular! I think it would be fun, but does anyone have any favorite mitten patterns??? Haha! I know that those kinda went out when we were little, but they would be really cute to have. I already make my own scarves, by my own patterns, but I have never made a set of mittens!
